S 3.2 Evaluation of Different Glass Microfibre Separators and Membranes for VRLA Batteries Working on High-Rate Partial-State-of-Charge (HRPSocC)

Contractors: Exide (Tudor), Daramic
Objective: Previous ALABC projects have explored the potential of a variety of materials which could be used as separators in VRLA cells employed for deep cycling. In such operation it is vital that the separator prevent the positive active material expanding. Project S 3.2 will explore the performance of a range of candidate separator materials in high-rate partial-state-of-charge (HRPSoC) operation (as in hybrid electric and 42 V vehicles) where the function of the separator is rather different.

S 3.4 Separator Systems for VRLA Batteries in High-Rate Partial-State-of-Charge (HRPSoC) Duty

Contractors: FIAMM, Hollingsworth & Vose
Objective: Project S 3.4 seeks to at least double the service life of the VRLA battery in the HEV application through the use of an optimized glass pasting paper system.
