The Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC)
is an international research and development consortium dedicated to enhancing
the capabilities of the lead-acid battery to ensure its competitiveness in
various energy storage markets. These markets include telecommunications, remote
area power supply (RAPS), start/stop automotive systems, and hybrid electric
applications.
The ALABC is a research consortium originally formed in 1992 to advance the capabilities of the valve-regulated lead acid battery in order to help electric vehicles become a reality.
